If there is one exercise that could help to eliminate the need for a push-up bra, it is the push-up itself. Widely regarded as the best all-over body toning move, it is also highly effective at toning the chest muscles. One US study showed that, on average, 66.4 per cent of total body weight is lifted with each push-up, far more than the weight most people would attempt to lift on a bench-press machine in the gym.

To do it, balance on your toes and hands, pressing your palms into the floor and keeping your hands just wider than shoulder-width apart. Straighten back and legs so that your body remains in a “plank” position. Breathe in and lower your torso to the floor by bending your elbows to 90 degrees. Engage (tense) your abdominal muscles to help to keep legs straight. Breathe out and push back up to the starting position. Repeat 8-12 times. If that’s too tricky, start with your knees on the floor or try a push-up against the wall.~
